Day 1 wasn't so bad... I started with a pineapple / apple blend. Green Tea was a good stand-in for my morning fix, but going without coffee was HARD!
While juicing, I always expect to be hungry. You'd think I'd learn, but I am always happily surprised at how full I am!
I don't have a schedule for when I drink juice; I just drink 6-8 oz whenever I feel hungry. In between juices, I drink as much water (with lemon) as possible. This helps to cleanse and settles my stomach.
What did I drink?
SBM and I woke up early, washed our fresh produce, and made 3 juices:
- Pink Punch
- Get Up & Go
- Mean Green
Pink Punch
This recipe will make enough to fill 3 32oz. Ball jars
- 3 Grapefruits
- 2 Bunches of Grapes
- 1 Watermelon
- 1 Pineapple
Get Up & Go
This recipe will make enough to fill 3 32oz. Ball jars
- 15 Apples (cored)
- 2 Pineapples
- 1 Bunch Parsley (optional)
Mean Green
This recipe will make enough to fill 3 32oz. Ball jars
- 6 Bunches of Spinach
- 2 lbs. Carrots
- 2-3 Celery Stalks
- 1 Bunch of Parsley
Each different fruit & veggie does something different for your body. We'll save that information overload for another post. If you want more in depth knowledge, I suggest Pat Crocker's: The Juicing Bible. It is a WEALTH of information!
How do I feel?
The Nitty Gritty
Let's get real, this is only day 1. My breath is kickin', I have a headache, I'm sweating out spinach, and I'm what SBM calls: sensitive. This means, I'm uncomfortable, my body is detoxing from all of the coffee, cheese, bread and wine I've eaten in the last 6 months, and I don't have a ton of extra patience... see... SENSITIVE.
But, these signs all tell me that the juice is WORKING!! My body is in full detox mode, and all the built-up yuck is on its way out, SCORE.
Are you juicing too? What are your favorite recipes? I would love to hear them!
LOVE LOVE,
Jennah
