Cold Process Soap

I handcraft all Made By Jennah soap using the Cold Process (CP) method. This method combines base oils with liquids using food-grade lye as an emulsifier. To enhance the character and scent of my soap, I also use other additives including: essential oils, clays, salts, and pureed fruit & vegetables. After combining the ingredients, I pour the mixture into molds where it saponifies for 48 hours. Saponification is the chemical reaction between the fats/oils, lye, and liquids that results in soap! After saponification, I de-mold the soap, cut it into bars, and let it cure for 4-6 weeks. Curing allows the bars to harden so they will last longer. After curing, the soap is ready to enjoy.

Base Oils

Base oils are vital to the CP method. Every oil contributes unique characteristics to soap. I spend time considering and blending specific oil combinations for each soap I make. All of the oils I use are high quality, all natural, and organic. This measure ensures a quality bar of soap. Below you will find the oils I use most often, along with some of their commonly known characteristics. All of this information is considered common knowledge, and has not been reviewed by the FDA.
