Urban Garden Inspiration

Where did you learn all of this?

How exactly did you get into Urban Gardening?

These are 2 questions I get asked all of the time, so here is the story:

SMB and me: prepping to "do work!"

SMB and me: prepping to "do work!"

SBM (Sexy Bald Man, aka my husband) and I live in a condo in the middle of a busy city. We walk to restaurants, the grocery store and our gym. We spend sunny Saturday afternoons eating big brunches on the café patios that line our busy street. Our particular little condo is situated on the top floor of our building and (drumroll…) we have almost 100 square feet of patio space! We have Patio Space, in the city. Double bonus!

Having all of this space combined with a love for outdoor eating and comfortable spaces led me on a trip to Lowes. I love Lowes because if you happen to kill a plant (or all of them) while you are learning to be an urban gardener, you can return the dead plant. Did you hear me? IF YOU KILL YOUR PLANTS, YOU CAN RETURN THEM FOR A FULL REFUND. Armed with this knowledge, SEESTER (my sister, an actual farmer), pinterest, and sheer willpower I pile a shopping cart full of plants, seeds, soil, pots and an assortment of gardening tools.

I arrive home, and call SBM. He comes to the rescue, smirking, while he hauls my new project components up the stairs and out to the patio. I quickly explain that he will love his new outdoor space. After all, he claims to be the Grill Master, and a Grill Master needs a comfortable grilling space (and homegrown veggies to grill).

Let the project begin!
